Barbeque sauce is notorious for containing high amounts of “hidden sugar.” However, it’s not always convenient to make BBQ sauce, which is why we use the bottled stuff, right?!? Today I’m giving you a quick, no cook recipe for a sweet, tangy and spicy, if you’d like, BBQ sauce. There are many uses for this sauce from marinade to topping…it’s great on chicken, sandwiches, meatloaf or lentil loaf (as we like to make around here because Corey is in love with Lentils), and so much more. I hope you enjoy the ease of this recipe as much as we do.
Whisk all ingredients together well. No need to cook. This BBQ sauce can be stored in a sealed glass container in the refrigerator for about a week or two.
One thing is for sure, you can feel good about your kids eating this because there is no added sugar. There is a small amount of molasses in this recipe to lend a richer, brown sugar like flavor. But, it is such a small amount adding only 15 grams of sugar in this entire recipe, making a little over 2 cups.
As you can see, Adeline absolutely loves this Zen Sweetened BBQ sauce! We hope you do too.
